MSMD--First Day of School

Hello, ladies,

Today was our first day of school so I thought I would jump on the apple mani train and see where it headed.  Fortunately, it wasn't apple sauce!  Get it...?  Like a squishy apple?  Like a train wreck...?  No....okay.....I won't force it...too late....why is this still happening......zomg.

I used China Glaze Innocence as a base and Essie Russian Roulette for the apples.  A dotting tool helped with the leaf and stem and a white striper added the little "shine".

Totally my favorite apple out of the bunch :)

Thanks for reading and for those of you who are heading back to school, best of luck!

Better Late Than Never

Hello, ladies!

In the last two weeks, I have moved, been hit by a car (I am fine), gone to Rhode Island, finished camp, and started teaching.  Fortunately, things are starting to calm down and we are starting to get back into a routine.  I have several manis to show you today, some good, some bad, some ugly :P

1.  Moving Nails (after-the-move nails)

Those are not french tips, they are just chipped, haha.  Before moving, I used Spoiled Pumping Gas and Jewelry Heist glitter topcoat.  I did not take a picture then, so here they are, my poor finger nails after moving from one third-floor apartment to another.

2.  Owl Stamping Nails (a feeble stamping attempt)

Okay, hubby and I are cabbing it for a while (cheap-ass-broke-ing) but I splurged and bought Essie Good as Gold (love!) and and Nicole by OPI Busta Mauve (don't love).  I read that Busta Mauve is a duochrome, but it is more of a brown metallic with flecks of red and blue glitter.

3.  Orange and Green Day Summer Challenge Nails!

Okay, let's end on a good note :D.  For orange and green day, I took Geeky Owl and Manicurity's ideas of the "Eek!" nails and added a happy face!  It reminds me of peas and carrots :D.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Summer Challenge: Sunflowers

Hi, ladies!

I got the original idea for today's post from Missy's Manis, which you can see here She has really cute manis, you should definitely check them out!  I used Essie Mesmerized and binder reinforcer stickers to make the half-moon shape.

Then, for today's challenge, I added what sort of looks like a sunflower.  Hopefully you can see what the idea was!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Summer Challenge: A Day at the Seaside

Hello, ladies!

My fingers look a little buggy in this picture, don't they?  Ah, well!  I used Sally Hansen X-Treme Wear Black-Out with Zoya Maisie Over top.  Then I stamped with Konad special polish using Cheeky CH 8 for the stripes (those are hard to get straight!) and BM-309 for the flippy-floppies.  Oh, to be at the beach!

Thanks and have a wonderful day :D

Summer Challenge:
Turquoise, Aqua, Jade Freestyle Day!!

Hello, ladies,

Long time, no post!  I hope you are all doing well.  I am running late but here is my teal freestyle mani.  I used Essie Turquoise and Caicos with Zoya Maisie glitter top coat, Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order for the Metallic and I used the same polish to stamp over China Glaze White on White with BM-315.

Thanks so much for reading and have a fabulous day,
Emily

Liebster Award :D

I am so excited because I got this today: "Hi Gorgeous. I wasnt sure how to get in touch with you, but I just wanted to tell you that you have been awarded with the Liebster Award by me," from Dina at A Secretary's Nail Art.

The award is designed to give the small blogs around there some attention, and to quality you need to have less than 200 Followers.

The rules are as following:
1. Each person tagged must post 11 things about themselves.
2. They must also answer the 11 questions the 'tagger' has set for them.
3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.
4. They must then choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and tag them in their post.
5. These lucky bloggers must then be told.
6. There's no tag backs.
11. Things about me:
1.  I love to go dancing even though I am a terrible dancer!
2.  I have a fluffy baby named Charlie who is a ten-pound Maltese dog and sleeps in the bed even though it's crowded.
3.  I cannot cook.  My husband cooks almost all our meals.  I am so ashamed and lucky.
4.  I could survive solely on Mexican food and grilled cheese sandwiches.
5.  I play clarinet.
6.  I love to go to the shore in the summer and one day hope to spend the entire summer at the shore.
7.  I love NBC comedies like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
8.  In my most favorite dream ever, my friends and I were sledding down a hill on a giant, polar-bear shaped ice cream cake.
9.  I am really bad at telling jokes because I always forget the punchline.
10.  After dogs, sharks are my favorite animal and I am obsessed with Shark Week.  I want to do a shark manicure and have a shark-themed party with shark cupcakes and beverages and watch Shark Week for seven days straight.  Not kidding.
11.  I spent four months studying abroad in Bath, England.

My questions from Dina @ A Secretary's Nail Art:

  1. What was your first response to getting this Award?    "What!?  Somebody knows I have a blog besides my mom!?  This is awesome!!  Yay!!"
  2. Name your 3-5 favorite polishes.  Essie Turquoise and Caicos, OPI Warm and Fozzie, Sephora by OPI Sugar Plum Fairies Gone Wild
  3. Tea or Coffee?  English Breakfast Tea in the winter and fall or sun tea with dinner in the summer
  4. Favorite Youtuber.  Jenna Marbles because she is hilarious and also CutePolish because she makes achievable designs that are prettyAlso I like videos of animals hugging lol
  5. If you stamp, whats your favorite stamping polish?  Konad special polish, it is the only one I have tried so far that shows up on everything and it's easy to clean-up.
  6. What should you be doing now, instead of blogging?  Packing, showering, and sleeping....this is so much better, don't you think?
  7. Who`s your favorite poet, and why?  e.e. cummings because i like how he puts words together in an evocative way, like " the world is puddewonderful"
  8. If you could make a polish, what would it be?  It would have a darker, royal blue base with multi-colored pieces of non-shiny glitter in different shapes and I would call it "Party in yer Pants" or "Pants Party"
  9. Your favorite manicure you have ever made (link). What is it about it, that you love so much?  I am very proud of this Batman mani.  I have sentimentally loved Batman for most of my life.  I spent over three hours on this mani, which is the longest I have ever spent on a mania and I was really proud of myself for the way the free-hand came out.  *pats self on back*
  10. 5 things you have within arms length from where you sit.  my cuddle muffin, Charlie; a drum major handbook for marching band (nerd alert); cell phone; afghan my grandma made; a box of tissues that I bought so I could try to recreate the design on the box in a manicure, lol
  11. Whats your game?  I used to play WoW and a few other MMORPGs but I am pretty psyched for Guild Wars 2.

And now *drumroll, please* my nominees:

Summer Challenge: Straw Mani

Hello!

This is the mani I wore to the Newport Jazz Festival this weekend!  I used Revlon Dreamer for a base and stamped with China Glaze Love's a Beach and Orange Knockout, both neons.

I have to say I just bought my first two Revlon polishes and I really like them!  My sister works at Walgreen's and I only bought them because of a sale.  They go on evenly and have quite rich colors!

For this mani, I dipped a drinking straw into a bottle of polish, then dabbed the straw on a piece of paper to get rid of excess polish before stamping.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Music of the Day: Dianne Reeves "Afro Blue"
Dianna Reeves was amazing at the Jazz Fest...here is one of her songs from 1991:

Summer Challenge: Summer Splatter

This is what happens when you can't find tape or Vaseline :P

Good morning!

Haha, Isn't that the scariest picture ever!?  I had a LOT of fun doing this summer splatter.  There is probably too much polish on these nails but it was one of the most enjoyable manis I have done!

I used coffee stirs and magazine pages to cover the excess mess.

Sinful Colors Irish Green, Sephora by OPI Iris I was Thinner, China Glaze White on White, and CG Love's a Beach

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Summer Challenge: Olympic Medals

Hello!

One of the bestest things about having a sister is that you can borrow her polishes! :P  For today's mani, I borrowed OPI Warm and Fozzie, OPI Designer de Better, and Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me glitter.

For the silver, I used a base coat of Designer de Better.  For the bronze, I sponged on some Warm and Fozzie.  I cannot express in words how wonderful Warm and Fozzie is.  Like if you had to pick one color to wear for the rest of your life, this might be it for me.  I should probably buy it.

The gold flecks are on the tips but the application was rushed so it is a little blobby but still shiny and pretty :O).

Thanks for reading and Happy Olympics!
Emily :O)
