Summer Challenge: Under the Stars

Hello and Happy Weekend!

I hope that everyone is staying cool!  It is about 100 degrees here so Charlie and I are running the A/C all day with the blinds closed!

For (yesterday's...oops!) Summer Challenge, I made my first attempt at galaxy nails!

The blobby things are supposed to be nebulas!  I think next time I will try to make my blobby nebulas look a little more nebula-like, lol.

I think galaxy nails look soo cool so I was surprised at how simple the steps are!  I used the Cute Polish tutorial from Youtube.com.

Thansk for reading and have a great weekend!

Summer Challenge: Blue, Aqua, and Green

Hello!

Today's Summer Challenge is a blue, aqua, and green.  I did an easy color swatch today of one of my very favorite colors, Sephora by OPI's Mermaid to Order.

I have had this polish for years and I love it because every time I wear it because of the way the color changes in the light.  Also, The Little Mermaid is definitely my favorite Disney movie...coincidence or not??

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Summer Challenge: Wimbledon

Hello!

I have been taking grad classes this week and pretending to philosophize (lol) so I have been a little behind on the Summer Challenge but hopefully after today I will be all caught up!

I don't know much about tennis but apparently Wimbledon's colors are teal and purple.  I use Sephora by OPI Iris I was Thinner and Sally Hansen Mint Sprint to do a simple French manicure.

This is my first attempt at a French mani and I had a hard time because the Sally Hansen polish came with a ginormous brush but I do like the colors together!

Summer Challenge--Ice Cream Sundae

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far!  I am a little behind on the Summer Challenge but hopefully I will catch-up today!  Here is the "Ice Cream Sundae" mani I did a couple days ago...I actually did popsicles because I thought it might be a little easier and I have been eating SO MANY popsicles lately to stay cool!

Summer Challenge: Balloons or Kites

Hello!

For today's challenge, I attempted to do balloons in a cloudy sky.  I made the clouds with a dotting tool and added China Glaze Techno glitter.

Then I added some balloons....which sort of look like balloons....

This didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped but it was good practice with the dotting tools!

Summer Challenge Day 16: Ladybirds

Hello!

Today I went to the Jersey shore with two lovely ladies and it was soo wonderful.  Unfortunately, my SPF 50 failed me and I am soo burnt--humph.  BUT then I got home and my dotting tools had just arrived in the mail!  WOOO.  I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

After going to the store to buy aloe and black nail polish, here is what I came up with for the ladybirds theme...it is a little messy!

My cuticles are a bit disastrous but hopefully you can look beyond that to my sheer brilliance...haha, JK!  I think I would have liked to use a brighter red for the ladybug but I really couldn't justify buying any more polish this week...

I used...China Glaze White on White, Sally Jansen Xtreme Wear Black Out (thank you, CVS!), Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Honeymoon Red, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Mint Spring (which turns yellow when I use a topcoat, I don't recommend it!).

 Hello!

Today is the first day I did a manicure for the Summer Challenge and the theme is Hot Pink--Freestyle.  I am so nervous to post because there are some really good manicures out there!  I used China Glaze's Love's a Beach with Zoya's Maisie for the flaky glitter.  On my other hand, I reused China Glaze's Orange Knock-Out because I looove it!  Hope you enjoy!

I love the Maisie on the orange because it reminds me of sunshine!

Hello!

Today I busted out the neons to try my first tape mani.  For the base coat, I used China Glaze's Orange Knockout, which is a true neon.  It is not part of their new neon summer collection but I love the brightness.  My husband said, "Wow...that looks like...a radiation protection suit," if that gives you any idea of just how bright it actually is!  I used two coats and probably could have used three to hide the nail line but overall I just love the brightness.

I think this pictures best shows the highlighter-ish color.

For the second color, I used China Glaze's Under the Boardwalk, part of their Summer Neons collection.  It is a deep, purple berry jelly shade.

If I were to do this again, I would probably pick two different colors...these two combined remind me of Halloween...and it is June...oh well!!

I think next time I need to wait for the polish to dry just a little bit more before I pull the tape off.

This is Halloween, This is Halloween... :)

Somebody is worn out...nappie time!

Bye!

Hello!

Thank you for visiting!  This is my very first post--so exciting!  After spending excessive amounts of time over months and months browsing lots and lots of fantastic nail art blogs, I decided to finally start my own.  I am definitely a beginner so please bear with me as I hope to chronicle my adventures (and probably misadventures!) on exploring the great nail art out there!

Nailslide is one of my absolute favorite nail blogs!  She has a lot of great tape manis as well as numerous tutorials, such as this cloud mani design.  In celebration of the first shore trip of the season, I tried to make it look like ocean waves.

For the base, I used Essie's Turquoise & Caicos and another Essie, Mesmerized.
I love these two colors together!

Oh no!  It looks like my co-blogger, Charlie, liked Turquoise & Caicos so much that he stole it for himself!

Here is the finished product!  I used China Glaze's "White on White."  Next time I will need to even the brush strokes on the "waves" and work on those gross cuticles
but I am very happy with the first attempt!
